2016

The Best Bank of the Year 2016 in Armenia by The Banker, a premier publication of Financial Times.


In Q2 2016 Fitch Ratings revised the Outlook on Ameriabank's Long-term Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to Stable from Negative (a year earlier), while affirming the IDR at 'B+'. Note: in 2015 Fitch Ratings reconfirmed Ameriabank’s foreign currency Long-Term Issuer Default Rating at B+. The Bank’s IDRs are driven by its B+ Viability Rating. Ameriabank is the first Armenian company to receive a rating equal to that of the Sovereign – which is the best indicator used in the international practice to assess a company rating.


During the EBRD Annual Meeting in May 2016, EBRD awarded Ameriabank “Deal of the Year - Energy Efficiency” for improving the energy efficiency of greenhouse infrastructure in Armenia in 2015.

Two awards from Commerzbank in 2010 – Award for Excellence for high quality international operations and Award for Excellence in Trade Finance.


Commerzbank: STP Award 2011 for excellence in performance of international transfers by straight-through processing (99.85%).


Finalized and completed the introduction of environmental and social risk management system with assistance from FMO and DEG. Awarded certificate for appreciation by FMO and DEG and got a reduction of the interest rate under the loan agreement executed earlier in December 2009.


IFC’s GTFP Award 2010 as the most active issuing bank in the Caucasus under the Global Trade Finance Program and GTFP Award 2011 as the best issuing bank in Caucasus.

2021

Ameriabank launches new branch – Malatia – at # 40/4 Zoravar Andranik Street in Malatia-Sebastia district of Yerevan.


FRV reaches financial close with IFC, EBRD, and Ameriabank for the largest Utility Scale Solar Power Plant in Armenia. 55 MW Masrik-1 Solar Farm will produce enough clean energy to supply more than 20,000 homes and avoid the emission of over 40,000 tons of CO2 annually.


Ameriabank opened its new semi-digital Dalma branch in Dalma Garden Mall, Yerevan. This is the 21st branch of the Bank.

Ameriabank has opened its new branch, Mashtots, in the center of Yerevan, which is the Bank’s largest branch operating with a non-standard schedule.


Ameriabank launched its new branch – Erebuni – at Erebuni Mall.

As part of the Government’s actions to mitigate economic impacts of coronavirus Ameriabank supported numerous businesses to help them work normally during the crisis. The Bank has the largest share in Armenia (37%) by the volume of business loans provided under these actions.


UNICEF and Ameriabank teamed up to make sure that Armenian children from vulnerable groups continue to get education during the pandemic. The Bank donated AMD 10 million to UNICEF to purchase 112 tables for children to study online.


Under the Government’s anti-covid program Ameriabank has already provided AMD 10 billion worth of loans to help numerous businesses to continue to work normally and overcome the crisis.


Due to well-developed cooperation with IFIs and leading banks Ameriabank additionally attracted about $20 million for trade finance.


$30 million long-term financing from OeEB (the Austrian Development Bank) to channel into small and medium entrepreneurship and energy efficiency/renewable energy projects in Armenia.


As part of the Bank’s CSR policies, AMD 20 million was donated to 200 medical workers exposed to high risk and workload to combat coronavirus.


Ameriabank continued with its popular youth program – Generation A – which in its 12th edition this year embraced new format, new approaches and innovative ideas. Generation A is a unique opportunity for creative, goal-oriented and enthusiastic young people to begin or expand their professional career with Ameriabank.


The Bank continuously enhances its distance banking capabilities by implementing new mechanisms to make service faster, more flexible and comfortable. We were the first in Armenia to launch a modern AI/ML-based consumer finance platform.


$50 million worth Green Bond in EUR – a linchpin transaction as the first green bond project in Armenia. The Green Bond was structured in accordance with internationally recognized ICMA Green Bond Principles.


The Bank continues to implement distance banking solutions to ensure that all its clients bank with comfort and have access to the latest technologies.


New money transfer system – Ameriastream – enabling clients to make payments from any place in the world. Transfers can be cashed out via ATMs by entering the 8-digit password provided by the sender.


Ameriabank placed AMD 5 billion worth of non-documentary registered coupon bonds with 9.5% annual yield and $10 million worth of USD-denominated bonds with 5% annual yield between April 28 and July 03, 2020 inclusive through public offering.

Ameriabank made a new offer by introducing Estate.ameriabank.am mortgage lending platform from the primary market. The platform allows you to find real estate by monthly loan repayment amount or real estate price, allowing you to filter property by type, area, number of rooms and other criteria.


Ameriabank launched e-signature for individual clients. It is being introduced for the first time in the financial market of Armenia. Customers can still use this opportunity only by serving at "Kamar" branch of Ameriabank.


The Etchmiadzin branch of Ameriabank opened in Etchmiadzin, Armavir region.


Ameriabank presented automarket.ameriabank.am platform featuring cars from the primary market. The platform enables the visitors to find a car matching their preferences and budget without any hassle.


Ameriabank and Naghashyan Solutions company have developed a joint offer. Henceforth, all legal entities and private entrepreneurs who intend to open an online store can get a ready-made solution with preferred design and the possibility of rapid and simple integration of Ameriabank’s vPOS (virtual POS terminal) payment instrument.


Ameriabank and Zangi company launched a new offer, due to which the customers can call Ameriabank via Zangi messenger free of charge from anywhere across the globe, irrespective of the mobile operators or roaming availability.


Ameriabank has rolled out OTP (one time password) PIN Cards without PIN envelopes.


Ameriabank’s new regional branch Abovyan opened in Abovyan town.


Ameriabank launched “Live Armenian” campaign aimed to support Armenian businesses and manufacturers.


Ameriabank became a full-fledged member of SWIFT global payment innovation (gpi) platform. Thanks to the SWIFT gpi system, the Bank’s clients will get the opportunity to follow the process of incoming and outgoing transfers, as well as obtain clear information on the date and amount of funds credited to the beneficiary’s account without additional inquiries.

 

2018

Nor Nork branch of Ameriabank opened in Megamall Masiv, at 16 Gai Avenue, Yerevan.


Ameriabank unveils a totally new offer in the banking sector of Armenia – for the first time an opportunity has been created in Armenia to make purchases with Visa PaySticker. It allows making contactless payments using Visa Pay Wave technology. The user just needs to attach the sticker to a phone, wallet or other personal items to make purchases and payments quickly and comfortably.


Ameriabank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed USD 20 million loan agreement, of which USD 12.5 million was issued under Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF). The loan will be used by SMEs for renewable energy projects, as well as introduction and application of green technologies.


Several new functionalities were added in Ameria Mobile Banking, thus making the application more user-friendly, more flexible and swifter.


Ameriabank CJSC and FMO signed a EUR 40 million loan agreement. The 5-year term facility will be dedicated to finance of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Armenia, as well as financing young and female entrepreneurs in the country.


The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Ameriabank CJSC signed an agreement for equity investment of USD 30 million to strengthen Armenia’s banking sector and further promote financial inclusion in the country. The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank and Ameriabank signed a USD 15 million, five-year loan agreement to support development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Armenia.


Ameriabank launched an unprecedented offer at the financial market: consumer loans issued online, within just a couple of minutes and without loan disbursement and service fees.


Ameriabank attracted USD 11.5 million form Symbiotics, with a possibility to increase the amount by an additional USD 10 million in hard or local currency.


The Head Office of Ameriabank is functioning in a new location at 2 Vazgen Sargsyan Street, Kamar Business Center starting from April 2018. Further to this, Ameriabank’s Cascade Branch has been renamed Grigor Lusavorich Branch and moved to 9 Grigor Lusavorich Street.

 

2017

Ameriabank opened 2 new branches: Kumayri branch in Gyumri and Kochar branch in Yerevan.


Opening of Kumayri branch was accompanied by launch of My Gyumri Campaign, with special card, credit and online service offerings for clients.


Ameriabank and Golden State Bank signed a cooperation memorandum, to create stronger links for doing business between individuals and companies in Armenia and California.


Drops LLC and Ameriabank launched a new mobile application– Drops application, a solution developed to automate daily payments using payment cards.


Earlyone, a queue management application enabling customers to register for a particular day and time in advance.


New online payment platform pay.beeline.am for card payments, including utility bills, directly from Beeline website.


Ameriabank launched ArCa MIR card – a joint card of the national payment systems of Armenia and Russia – ArCa and Mir, in the integration of which Ameriabank was involved as the settlement bank.

 

2016

Opened its 2nd branch in Yerevan (Yeritasardakan branch) with every-day servicing hours and 24/7 self-service banking area.

 

2014-2015

Opened 3 branches – Arshakunyats and Arshakunyats Plus Branches in Yerevan and Kapan Branch in Syunik region.


Launched in-house Contact Center with cutting-edge technologies and started 24/7 card service support through the Center.


Introduced new solution for online banking users – AmeriaToken mobile application generating one-time passwords. This was the first such application introduced in the banking sector of Armenia.


Launched Ameria Mobile Banking mobile application enabling clients to bank and manage their accounts 24/7 via smartphones and tablets.


Marketed new online card transfer system enabling to perform card-to-card and card-to-account transfers through Ameriabank’s website from any bank’s card to Ameriabank cards and accounts.


Signed agreement with Irish CR2 on introduction of BankWorld omnichannel remote banking platform – the first project of CR2 in Armenia.


Launched new banking service in Armenia – Ameria TV Banking jointly with Ucom fiber-optic network provider.


In the scope of queue management initiatives payment and cash-in terminals were installed in key locations of Yerevan and main branches of Ameriabank. Queue management software was introduced in several branches as a pilot project.


Introduced and upgraded several tools aimed at automation of bank operations and service improvement, such as:

  • Customer identification system for Phone banking, ArCa, TV banking via SMS passwords,
  • MobileDigipass for Blackberry,
  • New MobileDigipass for iPhone/iPad.

 

2012-2013

Opened 2 branches in Yerevan (Shengavit, Sayat-Nova).


Joined Factors Chain International, a major global factoring network, in 2013.


First in Armenia, offered a unique opportunity to obtain debut sovereign USD-denominated eurobonds of Armenia circulated on international capital markets.

Signed International Swaps and Derivatives Association Master Agreement with IFC which is an international-level standard for risk management operations.

In 2009, 2 branches were opened – in Kajaran town, the mining center in Armenia (Syunik region) and in Yerevan (Kentron (Central) Branch), while the Head Office moved to a new building in Yerevan.


In the same year became a principal member of VISA International and a member of Armenian Stock Exchange (ASE).


2009: launched a new product offering in Armenia – full Visa Gold and MasterCard Gold package including additional services such as IAPA discounts and travel insurance.


Joined the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) Global Trade Finance Program as an issuing bank.

Ameriabank acted as the sole arranger for the IPO of Team Telecom Armenia


2022

Ameriabank partners with IFC, EBRD and Team Telecom Armenia to finance a broadband infrastructure project with a total financing package of $45 million


2020

Ameriabank and Symbiotics signed a $15 million long-term subordinate debt agreement with the possibility to increase the amount to $25 million. In terms of Basel III these funds are intended to meet the additional equity instrument requirements and serve to strengthen the Bank’s total regulatory capital positions.

 

2019

The Netherlands Business Development Bank (FMO) and Ameriabank have signed a USD 20 million loan agreement to finance green projects and young people in Armenia. The loans will be used to finance renewable energy and energy saving projects, as well as for the first time for people under 35 to obtain housing, support education or provide loans to legal entities with a predominant participation.


responsAbility Investments AG has launched a USD 175 million securitization of loans, arranged by JP Morgan, backed by the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation as investor, and partnered with Ameriabank, as financial intermediary in Armenia.


Ameriabank raised USD 9.7 million from Raiffeisen Bank International and USD 7.0 million from Unicredit Austria Bank for trade finance.


OFID – the OPEC Fund for International Development and Ameriabank have signed a USD 25 million loan agreement aimed at supporting trade flows to and from Armenia.


Ameriabank and Citibank signed a new deal, Ameriabank raising about USD 14 million loan. Part of the loan has been extended under the existing credit limit opened for Ameriabank by Citibank, while the rest is secured by guarantee of the Asian Development Bank.


Development Bank of Austria (OeEB) and Ameriabank CJSC have signed a loan agreement for USD 30 million. This facility will be dedicated to financing small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Armenia.


Chaarat Gold Holdings company listed at London stock exchange acquired 100% of shares of “Kapan Mining and Processing Enterprise” CJSC from a company listed on the same stock exchange, which is a subsidiary of Russian Polymetal Group. The transaction was arranged by Ameriabank with successful syndication with two other partner Armenian banks, raising a USD 40 million loan of which USD 32 million was issued by Ameriabank.


Ameriabank has entered into EUR 16.8M long-term subordinated loan agreements with several funds managed by responsAbility Investments including the Global Climate Partnership Fund (GCPF) and funds focused on micro- and SME finance.

 

2018

FMO: EUR 40 million Loan Agreement with the Dutch development bank (FMO) aimed at financing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, as well as financing young and female entrepreneurs in Armenia.


The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) and Ameriabank have signed a $15 million loan agreement aimed at financing small and medium-sized businesses (SME) in Armenia.


Symbiotics: USD 11.5 million senior loan agreement with Symbiotics’ Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Bond issuance program, with a possibility to increase the amount by an additional USD 10 million in hard or local currency.


The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Ameriabank CJSC (AMB) signed an agreement for an equity investment equivalent of $30 million to strengthen Armenia’s banking sector and further promote financial inclusion in the country.


Eurasian Development Bank and Ameriabank CJSC have signed US$ 30 million credit line agreement for 4 years to develop small and medium-sized business sector in Armenia.

FMO: USD 30 million Loan Agreement with the Dutch development bank (FMO) aimed at financing younger retail clientele and SMEs led by young entrepreneurs.


GCPF: USD 30 million Loan Agreement with ResponsAbility Investments AG’s Global Climate Partnership Fund for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects financing.

Proparco: USD 20 million senior loan agreement aimed at financing energy efficiency, renewable energy, agribusiness, food processing, education and health projects in Armenia.


EBRD: USD 10 million equivalent in local currency credit line to Ameriabank under their Women in Business programme for on-lending to women-led small and medium-sized businesses.


DEG: USD 20 million senior debt facility agreement for small and medium enterprises finance in Armenia.


Ameriabank successfully placed USD 20 million debt securities with four Luxembourg-based funds via its investment manager responsAbility Investments AG. The proceeds from security placement will be channeled into lending to small and medium-sized enterprises and financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Armenia.


Proparco: USD 20 million senior loan agreement aimed at financing energy efficiency, renewable energy, agribusiness, food processing, education and health projects in Armenia.


EBRD: USD 10 million equivalent in local currency credit line to Ameriabank under their Women in Business programme for on-lending to women-led small and medium-sized businesses.

 

2014 - 2015

The 80th trade finance deal under the EBRD Trade Facilitation Program was signed.


The Bank’s portfolio was upgraded through the purchase of a new credit portfolio from Norvik Universal Credit Organization.

FMO and OeEB: 25 mln USD syndicated loan agreement for small and medium enterprises, renewable energy and energy efficiency projects finance in Armenia.


FMO: 20 mln USD convertible subordinated debt facility agreement in 2014. For the first time in Armenia a local bank attracted convertible subordinated loan from an international financial institution.


IFC: 50 mln USD subordinated loan in 2015.


EBRD invested 40 mln USD and acquired an equity stake in Ameriabank late in 2015; at the first stage EBRD invested 30 mln USD to acquire a 20.7% share, while the remaining 10 mln USD will be used for further top-up of capital.

 

2012 - 2013

Provided 15 mln USD for the reconstruction of a steel-making plant in Charentsavan, Armenia, under the Global Trade Finance Program of IFC.

Austrian Development Bank (OeEB): 15 mln USD loan facility agreement for small and medium enterprise, renewable energy and energy efficiency finance.


The bank signed an unprecedented deal for an Armenian bank: confirmed a letter of credit to a Kazakh bank, which is part of a large banking group.

 

2010 - 2011

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD): 10 mln USD loan agreement for development of private sector.


The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB): 30 mln USD credit facility agreement for small and medium enterprise financing in Armenia.


The Asian Development Bank (ADB): 20 mln USD credit facility agreement for small and medium enterprise financing.


Commerzbank issued a bank guarantee in national currency (AMD) and provided a major loan facility without collateral (bilateral loan) – for the first time ever such facility provided by an international financial institution to an Armenian bank.


CARTA (Continuing Agreement for Reimbursement of Trade Advances) in the amount of 4 mln USD with Citibank; for the first time ever Citibank provided funds to an Armenian bank based only on good financial standing and reliable activities.

 

2007 - 2009

IFC: 5 mln USD trade guarantee as part of Global Trade Finance Program and 15 mln USD loan for renewable energy finance in Armenia in 2009.


FMO (The Netherlands Development Finance Company)/DEG (Deutsche Investitions und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH): 30 mln USD debt financing agreement, including 20 mln USD for small and medium enterprises and 10 mln USD for renewable energy (December 2009).
